The Show Development Program at Red Line Equestrian is a structured, tuition-based competitive program for committed riders pursuing English and Western show careers. This program is an extension of our Horsemanship Education & Development system and is built on consistency, preparation, and correct horsemanship.
Competition is viewed as an application of training—not the goal itself.
Program Season
The Show Development Program operates as a seasonal, tuition-based program running March through September.
During this time, riders participate in structured coaching, scheduled shows, and progressive competitive development.
While the competitive season is defined, year-round participation is required through consistent lessons and leasing to maintain eligibility, readiness, and progression.
Year-Round Commitment Requirement
Show Development is not a seasonal-only program. Riders are required to maintain year-round involvement to ensure horse and rider progression.
Requirements include:
- Active participation in the Horsemanship Education & Development Program
- Active lease through Red Line Equestrian
- Year-round lesson attendance and progression
- Continued maintenance of riding and horsemanship skills outside of show season
This ensures riders enter each show season prepared, consistent, and progressing rather than restarting annually.
Eligibility Requirements
To participate in the Show Development Program, riders must:
- Be actively enrolled in the Horsemanship Education & Development Program
- Be actively leasing a horse through Red Line Equestrian
- Maintain year-round lesson participation
- Demonstrate consistency, responsibility, and appropriate skill level
- Receive approval from management and instructors
Required Commitment (In-Season)
During the March–September show season, riders are expected to maintain:
- Minimum of two structured lessons per week
- Minimum of one independent practice ride per week
- Participation in additional program activities as assigned, which may include team development, horsemanship education, barn management skills, equipment maintenance, and other non-ridden training components
- Show schedule is pre-determined prior to the season, and riders are expected to prioritize and attend all assigned shows throughout the program season
- Clear progression pathway toward horse ownership based on responsibility, consistency, and program development
Practice rides and supporting program activities are an essential part of development, reinforcing lesson material and building independent competence both in and out of the saddle.
Show Participation
Show participation is part of the structured training program and is based on readiness of both horse and rider.
- Riders must be actively leasing to compete off-property with their horse
- All show entries require management approval
- Show selection is based on horse suitability, rider readiness, and program progression
- Emphasis is placed on preparation, consistency, and correct execution over volume of showing
Horsemanship Expectations
Riders in the Show Development Program are expected to maintain a high standard of horsemanship at all times.
This includes:
- Consistent and correct horse care and handling
- Respect for training progression and horse limitations
- Professional behavior at shows and on property
- Accountability in both riding and overall horse management
Training Philosophy
Success in the Show Development Program is built on the same foundation as all Red Line Equestrian programs:
- Horse-first decision making
- Structured, progressive development
- Consistency over intensity
- Correct fundamentals over quick results
- Long-term development of horse and rider partnership
Program Pathway
The Show Development Program is the culmination of the Red Line Equestrian system:
- Beginner Horsemanship Program (entry)
- Introduction to Red Line Equestrian (experienced riders)
- Horsemanship Education & Development Levels
- Lease Program
- Show Development Program
Each stage is designed to ensure readiness before advancement.
Getting Started
Enrollment in the Show Development Program is by approval only.
Riders must already be actively progressing within lessons and leasing, and demonstrate consistency, responsibility, and readiness for structured competition.
We recommend discussing goals early so progression into the program can be planned appropriately.
